Marzocchi Bomber Z2 setup
Most Bomber Z2s leave the shop set for someone else. Put in your weight for your starting numbers, straight from Marzocchi’s own charts.
Pump to 82 psi, then measure sag and adjust.

Fix what you feel
Tap what your fork does. Fixes are for your RAIL. Change one thing at a time, then ride the same section again.
Harsh over roots and braking bumps
Too much air, or the compression lever is too far toward FIRM.
- Check sag first. Under 15% means too much air.
- Make sure the compression lever is fully OPEN.
- Rebound too slow can feel harsh too. Open it 1 or 2 clicks (counter-clockwise).
Dives under braking and on steep roll-ins
Too little compression support, or too much sag.
- Move the compression lever a small step toward FIRM, about a quarter of the way. It has no clicks.
- Still diving and sag is past 20%? Add 3 to 5 psi.
Bottoms out hard on drops and big landings
The air spring isn’t ramping up enough.
- Add one volume spacer.
- Stay within Marzocchi’s max spacer count for your travel.
- The lever only firms up the start of the stroke, so it won’t fix a hard bottom-out.
Never uses full travel, even on big hits
Too many spacers, or too much air.
- If sag is right, remove one volume spacer.
- Make sure the compression lever is fully OPEN.
Bouncy, or clunks at full extension
Rebound is too fast.
- Add rebound 1 or 2 clicks (clockwise).
Rides lower and lower through rough sections
Rebound is too slow, so the fork packs down.
- Open rebound 2 clicks (counter-clockwise).

Spacers change how hard the fork ramps up at the end of its travel, not its sag. Add one if you bottom out too easily, remove one if you never get near full travel. Never go over Marzocchi’s max for your travel.
Which Marzocchi Bomber Z2 damper do I have?
- RAIL: One compression lever that sweeps between OPEN and FIRM with no clicks, plus a rebound dial.
Every standard Bomber Z2 has the RAIL damper.
Marzocchi Bomber Z2 service interval
Marzocchi recommends a full service every 125 hours of riding or once a year, whichever comes first.
Questions
What air pressure should I run in my Marzocchi Bomber Z2?
Start from Marzocchi’s chart for your riding weight with gear. A 170–180 lb rider starts at 82 psi. Then set sag to 15–20%. Never go over 120 psi, and never below 40.
How much sag should a Bomber Z2 have?
15–20% of travel: 21–28 mm on a 140 mm fork. Measure with the compression lever fully OPEN, dressed to ride, with your weight spread across saddle, bars and pedals.
How many clicks of rebound on a Bomber Z2?
It depends on your weight. From fully closed, a 170–180 lb rider starts at 8 clicks out. Lighter riders run more clicks out: 13 at 120–130 lb, down to 2 at 240–250 lb.
Does this work for my older Bomber Z2?
For the standard air Z2 from 2020 on, yes. The Z2 E-Bike+ has its own chart, and a Z2 from before the RAIL damper may differ, so check that year’s guide on marzocchi.com.
